The City of Mitcham Championships will be run by computer to ensure that time spent waiting for matches is minimized.

• The tournament will be played with round robin groups of 3 or 4 in the first round of singles events, but only where the total numbers entered allows for an even number of round robin groups. Otherwise the event will be played as a knockout event with a consolation event for first round losers if there are enough entries to warrant such an event. This may mean that the top seeded player has a bye in the first round. Experience has shown that a round robin group greater than 4 is unpopular as it means more matches to be played and is tiring for the players, it also means that the tournament takes longer to run.
